    1.Prepare and seal the seashell

Make sure the shell and decoupage surface are clean, dry, and fully sealed before adding resin.

    • Clean the shell with a damp cloth to remove dust, sand, or oils
    • Ensure your napkin/rice paper decoupage is completely dry
    • Brush on a thin layer of clear sealer (e.g., Mod Podge or acrylic varnish) over the design
    • Let the sealer dry fully to prevent the resin from soaking in or causing stains

2.Set up a level, protected workspace

A flat, dust‑free area helps the resin self‑level and cure smoothly.

    • Cover your table with baking paper, silicone mat, or plastic sheet
    • Place the shell on a small cup, lid, or silicone stand so resin can drip off edges if needed
    • Make sure the shell is level so the resin doesn’t pool on one side

3.Apply a thin layer of UV resin

Start with a light coat so you can control coverage and avoid overflow.

    • Gently squeeze a small amount of UV resin onto the centre of the decoupaged area
    • Use a silicone brush, toothpick, or small stick to spread the resin to the edges
    • Keep the layer thin and even; add a tiny bit more only if needed
    • Check for bubbles and pop them with a toothpick or gently exhale over the surface

4.Cure the resin under UV light

Proper curing gives a hard, glossy finish that protects your design.

    • Put on nitrile gloves and, if you like, a mask for ventilation
    • Place the shell under a UV lamp (or strong UV torch) following the resin manufacturer’s time guide (usually 1–3 minutes per layer)
    • Rotate the shell if needed so all areas cure evenly
    • Lightly touch the surface with a gloved finger; if it’s still tacky, cure for another cycle

5.Add a second coat if needed

A second thin layer can give extra shine and depth.

    • If you want a thicker, glass‑like finish, apply another thin layer of resin
    • Spread it evenly again, watching the edges so it doesn’t drip over too much
    • Cure under the UV light for the same amount of time as before
    • Repeat only until you’re happy with the thickness

6.Finish edges and inspect the surface

Clean edges and a smooth surface make the piece look professional.

    • Check the rim of the shell for any sharp or sticky resin drips
    • Carefully trim or sand hardened drips if necessary (wear a mask when sanding resin)
    • Wipe off any dust and give the shell a final look under good light
    • Your decoupaged seashell is now sealed, glossy, and ready to use or sell
